To advance is to discombobulate something by an act of change. Youth has zits. Old age has wrinkles—and sometimes wrinkles with a zit in the folds! I believe our problem with feeling “normal” inside the advance of modernity’s ever changing illusion is that all the connections that rule our existence are unknowable because we live by artificial growth that is powered by petroleum in a spin up of an unsustainable relationship with our biosphere. In the meantime we have the illusion that we can rework nature to end both zits and wrinkles—and there be no untoward consequences.
