The long con is really about living an ideal of continuous economic growth made possible by the destructive us of fossil fuels to harvest dense energy; plus, the added fantasy of melding corporate elites into brokers of political power who define the rules for rationing wealth across a general population who are consumers of the system's goods and services. We have reached a time in Earth history where the natural feedback of climate systems and the physics of a hothouse Earth will dictate what comes next for life and humans constructs in particular--including the elites.
