Thank you writing up this summary of possible climate actions. I believe we will be in the “stuck” scenario for all of this decade (the 2020s). Take the example of the Democratic Senator from West Virginia. He will block any significant changes to the coal industry in the current Congress. And it’s likely that the Republicans will retake the Senate in 2022, plus maybe even the House. Political power at the federal level will not be strong enough to make radical changes to transition away from carbon in the next 6 years at a minimum. And reaching 2 degrees centigrade of warming by 2030 will be devastating to human society and many species of life on the planet. Twenty-five percent of Americans won’t even take easy and rational decisions to protect themselves from a pandemic. It only takes a small but vocal, irrational and violent part of the population to keep positive change from occurring.
