Mike, you make an important observation about the billionaire class stepping out of the shadows into open power at a volatile time for society. I suspect they will use maximum police and military power to subdue a hostile population. Americans will be shocked by the intensity of the billionaire foray into authoritarianism and violent dictatorship. How will the common American citizen react to a plutocratic smack down of the ordinary man? I’m assuming the reaction will be violent. I’ve been thinking about how the USA as a federal political entity that is so large geographically and so diverse in its population is able to make common purpose together. I think the 20th Century era of world war distorted the American experiment so that we became something we are by natural inclination not supposed to be. We really should be a lot different countries on the North American Continent. One result of the coming plutocratic overreach will be a breakup of our current federal system. Political power will be pushed downward into smaller units of citizen government. Coming climate disasters will push survival even further into small communities practicing a survival ethos.
