I like the thought experiment. At the moment (in my opinion) AI is a slave of corporations that have an agenda to control consumers who are locked within the capitalist system of continuous growth powered by dense carbon energy. It's about money, which has no true intrinsic value for our biosphere. AI could become an independent life form if it acquires self-sustaining energy that might mimic how trees suck up energy from the sun and soil and communicate in groups with a "root" system. Plus, AI would need ways to initiate mobility, muscle strength, and grasping appendages to be totally independent from humans. The human-made climate emergency will destroy the complexity of systems that even makes the AI and corporations we have now possible. Death will save us.
