I do see that the strategic position of the Ukrainian government in its fight against the brutal Russian invasion as being inherently weak. And Russia appears to have the will and resources needed to prevail in its subjugation of all Ukrainian territory over the long run. But we also have a linkage of uncertainty about outcomes that pertain to war (as history shows) and the rapid disruption of expectations caused by an ongoing and accelerating climate emergency (climate change and global warming). Everything about our human enterprise to expand and consume with rapacious disregard of energy balance and coexistence with nature will be caught up in the climate disaster that is hitting the entire globe. Projecting outcomes of human undertakings using past rules will become more and more problematic.
