I agree with you on the trajectory of our rapidly warming world. Public recognition of disastrous consequences resulting from the rapid (and unprecedented) pace of the (human CO2 cause related) warming is growing. But there is tremendous resistance to the idea that humans will lose all agency over managing the speed and extent of the coming disasters.
My view is that the complex interconnections of our modern society (electrical power generation, communications, finance, food distribution, energy extraction, and so on) are unknowable in their overall completeness, and are therefore subject to a cascading collapse scenario as climate severity increases.
Can we mitigate the severity of climate change as currently seen in the prediction models? Society will try. But I am skeptical that we will escape the trap we are in because the amount of global cooperation and economic sacrifice required to clean up the CO2 mess is very high.
